Custom Commissions

I welcome Made to Order work and Custom Commissions.

Though I have many stock items, I am to a great extent a custom jeweler.  Rings are sized to fit and I'm happy to size bracelets as well.  It's no problem making small changes on any order---a different finish on a bracelet, a remix of the features of two rings, a different stone in a setting. Unless the changes are so extensive that it's really a Custom Commission, and it will take considerably more time and material, I charge no more for made to order work than for an item in stock.  Use the Contact button in the top menu to email me with a fuller explanation of any special requests if there isn't enough room to explain them in the order form.

New designs and major revisions of existing designs are Custom work.  You initiate a Custom Commission with me this way: email me through the Contact button in the top menu. Let me know that you want to talk about a commission, a design idea, or just possibilities---wherever you are in your thinking.  If you decide you want to proceed with something we design your piece together. When we have the design I look at the materials required and the complexity of the work and I quote you a price, and if that's agreeable you'll make part payment and I'll get to work.  The remainder of the payment will be due when the item is ready to ship.

Custom work takes more time.  First, of course, we have to design it, and new designs may present new problems. There may be issues with fabrication.  We might need to change some materials or revise the design.  With complex silver commissions I sometimes make a copper prototype to debug the design and improve my work plan before starting the final piece.  It's all part of the process for custom work, and though it takes some extra time it produces a result you can't get any other way.
